The photographer that owns the reference photo I used for the back tattoo part of the poster wont allow me to use his stuff for anything beyond personal use so im stopping now. I tried to make a deal but he wont respond. it really sucks...

That sucks. I didn't know that could be an issue. You see all sorts of art in galleries with all sorts of references that don't seem to have to credit them. I mean, people take photos of graffiti and sell them. People paint celebrities from photos they didn't take themselves and sell them.

How does it work?

It began and ended with a word.
Not a particularly strong or powerful word, but a word that changed everything. It wasn't too long or difficult to spell. It wasn't uncommon either. In fact, it was a perfectly ordinary word, but, I suppose, its commonplace origin is what made it so special.
I loved that word.
But the word doesn't mean much without the story along with it and I was always one for telling good stories.
